Grocontinental based in Whitchurch, won the Shropshire Chamber Business of the Year award in 2004. Grocontinental operates a temperature-controlled warehousing and distribution business, storing and transporting food and other goods for some of the major names in the food industry. Grocontinental received advice and financial support from Switch on Shropshire to introduce broadband to the business. It has speeded up all internet activities, and its impact is recognised by Steve Blakemore, Grocontinental's IT manager. Steve Blakemore, IT manager says "Our email is more efficient, our web browsing is faster, and customers can access their stock figures through our website faster, too. Switch on Shropshire was very helpful and keen to see we had all the support we needed." Grocontinental has enabled remote access for key people to be able to work remotely at home and abroad, and will extend broadband operations early in 2005.
