Hammond Leisure of Cleobury Mortimer is a privately run hospitality operation in Cleobury Mortimer, offering six guest rooms with modern comfort in a traditional English style, alongside a coffee shop and a dedicated regional fine food-and-drink retail outlet which opened in June 2004. Switch on Shropshire supported Hammond to install a satellite system to access broadband and develop an inhouse network and server. This enabled Hammond to operate their website more efficiently and update information. Speed in terms of e-marketing has improved tenfold, and images can be sent much more quickly. Business from the National Air Traffic Services radar station at Clee Hill has increased dramatically following the installation of satellite broadband with a wireless network. This has equated to 230 room nights, 12 per cent of annual occupancy, producing some £16,000 in revenue. In 2005 Hammond is embarking on an upgrade of the bedrooms, and additional touches for the modern traveller will include satellite broadband internet connection. The retail operation will develop online shopping and export of regional food and drink. Other plans include a traditional farmhouse-style restaurant and a facility for meetings and short-term office space for corporate businesses.
