Connectivity Grant - Connectivity to Broadband Grant


Switch on Shropshire regrets that the grant program is no longer available to rural businesses as the project is now in the final phase.

For an imminent Broadband connectivity package including installation and rental costs.

  • Terrestrial connection up to £1,000 @ 50% of net costs for one year
  • Alternative connection ie. Satellite up to £2,700 @ 50% of net costs for one year

Business must have been advised on broadband by an ICT Business Adviser on a one to one basis or at a seminar prior to application

Please note: VAT is not covered by the grants. Therefore it is the total value before adding the VAT which will be taken into consideration when applying for a grant.

  • Monthly or quarterly broadband costs
  • Line rental costs
  • Network cabling
  • Hardware and software (except routers, firewalls and antivirus software)

The only exception to the above rules is if more than one provider of an item or service is not available or the client has had a website developed already by a supplier and it would be detrimental to the business to change supplier. A supporting letter from the applicant must evidence this.


Grant Application Process
  • Grants will be awarded after consideration of the above by Switch on Shropshire
  • Grants Panel – Paul Nash, Paddy George, Edward Webb
  • Grant applications must be submitted to the ICT Adviser 6 working days before the grant panel date. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of there application within 5 working days of the Grants Panel taking place.
  • Purchases or work must not take place on eligible items until notification has been received that the grant has been approved. Any expenditure or work carried out prior to this date will be ineligible for support. Grant support will be made on production of evidence of that the items have been paid for in full as detailed on the claim for payment form.
